Well, as it currently looks to the casual visitor, CherryPy doesn't have any plug in at all, which is kind of unfair to the plug-ins. 

I would actually like to promote Cherrypy quite differently as you know, Sylvain. More like the ideal application/web server for multi-user systems, not a hits-per-second Web server competing with nginx or apache.
 
For example, in that role it is vital to the product of my company, and probably  many others. Implicitly, there are funds available to financially support core development of Cherrypy. My company would love to support Cherrypy would there be a way. Hell, I'd even support it anonymously. 
But the fact is that having companies officially backing a project looks good. Especially to peoples bosses when the backend platform is chosen. Some entity providing commercial support wouldn't hurt either.
