I always found the xml requirement painful to fulfill so I just use 
http://code.google.com/p/ctypesgen/ instead.

I'm not saying its perfect but I find it fits my brain better, and 
easier to debug. Although if h2xml is working it sounds like you are 
really close and debugging xml2py should be doable.
