What difference does it make where the git repository is hosted, assuming that repository is just as accessible? I could see it if you were trying to make an argument for a richer set of non-SCM tools, but you don't appear to be asking for anything other than a "name-brand" git host. Contributors are always welcome to fork, etc. - these aren't features unique to github, of course.
