Just for the records: I solved my problem by using sqlite 3.4.2.

Now it says:

Python 2.4.4 (#2, Nov 16 2007, 10:59:28)
[GCC 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)] on linux2
