He started with APSW, decided it must be a problem in APSW, switched to pysqlite and experienced the same problem there, and so reverted back to APSW. One post even had pysqlite code with APSW documentation :-) The post you commented on was APSW all the way which is why it was important to point out that APSW does no transaction handling behind the scenes at all in contrast to the default in pysqlite to do so.
