[pysqlite] Can no longer build eggs with 2.5.1?

In the release announcement for 2.5.1, it says: "got rid of setuptools; everything could be done with plain distutils as well" That's not quite true. extended_setup.py would accept the command bdist_egg; setup.py does not. Is there another way to build eggs with much hackery?
