About tif and endianess for pil1.1.7

Hello,
As I had problem with importing 16-bit tiff with pil 1.1.6, I tried to
install 1.1.7 from
http://effbot.org/downloads/#pil
Actually, the code has been modified to include both endianess
support. However, I can only read big endian tif, with little endian,
I get a white image :(
Any idea about the problem?
