Yes, those diagrams are a good start, from my perspective at least.
May I suggest you link to that page *from the end-user* docs, since
users like me (who realize they want to mess with configs and
internals but aren't devs) will start with the simplest docs and then
get stuck until they, for instance, post on this forum :) I never
thought to look for the development page and didn't come across it in
searches.
