or Operations Engineer


THE ROLE:
This is a client facing role and the applicant will be required to plan, in=
stall and support network, hardware and software installations at customer =
sites on behalf of the company. The infrastructure will support the server =
and client side applications deployed by the company on behalf of the clien=
t.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
=3D> The planning, documentation and specification of network and hardware =
infrastructures that will support the company=E2=80=99s products and projec=
ts within customer sites.=20
=3D> Plan and manage the agreed infrastructure deployment. Provide time and=
 cost estimates.=20
=3D> Implementation of the of the agreed infrastructure =E2=80=93 networks,=
 firewalls, servers, operation systems, application server software and cli=
ent side software within the client site and the development environment de=
ployed within the company offices.=20
=3D> Operation, administration and support of the deployed infrastructure w=
ithin the client site and the development environment deployed with the com=
pany offices.=20
=3D> Support test teams in performing infrastructure, performance and stres=
s testing.=20
=3D> Support development teams build deployments within the live, staging a=
nd development infrastructures.=20
=3D> Participate in project planning, strategic network planning, tactical =
operation planning, security and the development of contingency operation p=
lans.=20
=3D> Establish close working relationships with the project\product manager=
, development teams and clients.=20
=3D> Development, implementation and auditing of standards, policies and pr=
ocedures in relation to the specification and deployment of client infrastr=
uctures.=20
=3D> Participate in implementation, management and support of the company=
=E2=80=99s infrastructure.=20
=3D> Document a client=E2=80=99s infrastructure and periodically review the=
 documentation to ensure that it is correct and up to date.=20
=3D> Administer and maintain, company-client business support systems in re=
lation to client infrastructure.=20
=3D> Assist with the development of business processes to ensure that servi=
ce level agreements with external customer and internal company requirement=
s are maintained.=20


EDUCATION:
A Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
=3D> Experience specifying, deploying and managing network and hardware inf=
rastructures.=20
=3D> Senior level experience with Linux and Windows Operating Systems.=20
=3D> Senior level experience planning, configuring and managing network fir=
ewalls, hubs and switches.=20
=3D> Senior level experience with J2EE application servers in particular IB=
M Websphere.=20
=3D> Senior level experience with database servers in particular IBM DB2.=20


DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
=3D> WebLogic or JBoss would be an advantage but not essential.=20
=3D> MS SQL, mySQL or Oracle would be an advantage but not essential.=20
=3D> Application Server knowledge and/or experience with WebLogic and JBoss=
 would be an advantage but not essential.=20
=3D> Experience with databases would be an advantage but not essential e.g.=
 MS SQL, mySQL, Oracle or DB2.=20
=3D> Programming/scripting skills are desirable. The languages used within =
the company are especially Java, Javascript, Python, Jython, Visual Basic a=
nd C, C++.


BASIC SKILLS
=3D> Up to-date knowledge of network and server equipment.=20
=3D> Strong project management skills, especially in deploying live end-use=
r systems.=20
=3D> Proven technical troubleshooting experience.=20
=3D> Excellent analytic ability and strong communication skills.=20
=3D> Strong oral and written communications are a must - you will be workin=
g with the company=E2=80=99s software teams to take their products live and=
 maintain them, and work with engineers and non-technical staff at all leve=
ls in the organization.=20


TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
=3D> Occasional travel to the company=E2=80=99s headquarters in Dublin, Ire=
land=20
=3D> Onsite assistance in other company projects within the USA.=20
