EXPERIENCE SYNOPSIS

At Online Information Management, Inc. (Jul, 01 to present),=20=20
Created an automated system to produce documentation from a project
glossary stored in a relational database. Used Python to retrieve
terms and definitions selected by various criteria from an ODBC
database and place into a specific, project standard format using Open
Office and MS Office. Automatically placed, formatted and printed PDF
and WinWord documents.
Converted a Podcast synchronization tool for Windows and Mac10. Used
Python, wxPython, py2exe, py2app and Null Soft Installation System.

Consultant to Dell Corp. on a c++ to Python conversion project. Python
code created "unattend" files used in the installation on Dell servers
of Linux, Windows and Novell OSes.
Created a web system to intelligently select and configure fiber optic
routing for an utility district in the state of Washington. Used
iterative deepening search algorithms and Apache 2, mod_python and
mySQL for implementation.

Created mobile inference engine to be used as the basis for
multi-agent business rule systems. Used Python, PyRO, Jython, C++ and
Java as implementation languages and transport mechanisms for the
agent engines. Used the agents to explore business rule application
with imprecise and incomplete knowledge in a multi-agent environment.

For Lante Corporation, (Jul, 99 to Jul, 01), was object-oriented
technology and knowledge management mentor for Lante Corp. Acted as
requirements elicitation expert and taught OO technology and knowledge
acquisition techniques. Created application systems using Python to
automate various aspects of requirements elicitation. Was part of team
to create new software development framework based on Rational Unified
Process and Extreme Programming methodologies. Introduced and taught
knowledge acquisition techniques for new requirement elicitation
process that reduced time for requirement specification completion by
30% and reduced errors by 40%.=20

CONSULTANT  - August 1986 to April 1999
At Midwest Consulting Group, (Oct, 98 to Apr 99), for Sprint Corp.,
was responsible for the evaluation and selection of distributed
transactional application servers. Created recipe level test cases in
Java and C++ to evaluate the atomic commit protocols on distributed
transactions. Products evaluated were BEA M3, Visigenic ITS and
Hitachi TP Broker
At A. C. Nielsen  (April, 96 to Aug, 98), was the knowledge engineer
on a prototype KBS project to intelligently place packages on retail
grocery store shelves. Was the first successful implementation after
five previous unsuccessful efforts by numerous groups in the retail
sales industry. Successfully conducted a multiple domain expert
knowledge acquisition program, designed the system using the OO tool
KADS and implemented the KBS using the object oriented inference
engine Nexpert Object. Project combined intelligent behavior with
respect to hard numerical decisions and also esthetic decisions
concerning placement of products upon shelves.=20

The KBS produced planograms which not only exceeded numeric indicators
of quality produced by domain experts, but also exceeded the
previously unattained absolute targets for these numeric indicators of
quality which were set by management.

Used unstructured and structured interviews, protocol tracing,
repertory grid analysis and the multiple expert techniques of nominal
group, brainstorming and consensus decision making in the acquisition
and analysis phases. Also led the effort to introduce object-oriented
methodologies into the Nielsen software repertoire of standards and
tool sets.

Also at A. C. Nielsen designed and implemented a Formula Service that
evaluated expressions in a C like language. Supported dual interfaces,
was COM compliant and supported cascaded assignment, nested
expressions and proper tail recursion. Used Visual C++, Java and
Visual Parse by Sandstone Tech.

At E-Systems (Oct., 95 to April, 96) designed the Agent Query Service,
a CORBA 2.0 compliant service that coordinated intelligent queries to
various data stores. Compliant with the CORBAServices Query Service,
the system allowed user defined languages and data stores to be
queried in a distributed fashion. It is compatible with OLE2 / COM and
OpenDoc. Implemented using Orbix from Iona, Sybase, Genamap
(Geographical DB) and C++ for Silicon Graphics using IRIX and Windows NT.

At NEC America (Oct., 92 to Mar, 95) and DSCCC (Apr., 95 to Oct., 95),
developed three versions of a main memory relational database engine.
Used C++ and CaseWare for Sun, Solaris and the Stratus version of
fault tolerant UNIX. Wrote the SQL pre-compiler for embedded SQL
operations in a C++ program. Responsible for the locking, indexing and
intention list implementations for both local and shared, memory
mapped classes.=20

At NEC, Designed and developed a `two level store' system using linear
hashing with separators for guaranteed maximum of one disk access for
any record for very large (10 gigabyte) relational data tables.
Applied the research of Larson (Ottawa, Can) and Mohan (IBM Research,
Almaden) to create the first commercial implementation of very large
relational tables with the guaranteed limit of one disk access.

I have extensive experience with logic design and programming with
application to ACID transaction semantics, atomic commit protocols
(two and three phase commit) and strict two phase locking. Researched
application of Object Modeling Technique and the Fusion object
oriented design methodology to large-scale software analysis, design
and implementation projects spanning multiple development sites in
multiple countries.

 (Jan 91 to Oct. 92) Designed and developed interfaces for BankTec
Corp. using C++, and Glockenspiel library on MS Windows, Informix and
UNIX. Designed and developed intelligent, learning interfaces for
Richland College (DCCCD) and Advantex Research using Nexpert Object,
Kappa, C++, Zinc Library and ToolBook.

At ARCO Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and ARCO Oil & Gas
Marketing (Aug., 89 to Jan, 91), designed and developed three Expert
System Advisors using Nexpert Object, an object-oriented inference
engine. Co-authored  "Planning and Interpreting Cement Bond Logs: An
Expert System Implementation" delivered at the 1991 Conference of
Artificial Intelligence in Petroleum Exploration and Production in
College Station, Texas and at the 1991 European Conference on AI in
Petroleum Exploration and Production in Rueil Malmaison, France. The
advisor used abductive reasoning and advanced user interface
techniques to create the first expert system to interpret graphical
well logs.

At ARCO, Designed and developed user interfaces with TOOLBOOK and
SUPERCARD.  Created Dynamic Link Libraries for interfacing to NEXPERT
and TOOLBOOK using Microsoft C & C++ and SDK and Borland C++.
Evaluated the Kappa inference engine, SMALLTALK Object Works, Level 5
Object and ACTOR.

At Information Control (Sept., 86 to Aug., 89), designed, developed,
and tested artificial intelligence methodologies, especially
object-oriented technology.  Used LISP (Scheme, Common),
Object-Oriented Languages (SCOOPS, Smalltalk), PROLOG (Clocksin and
Mellish, Turbo Prolog) and ESIE (Expert System Inference Engine).=20
Used software engineering methodologies, such as Definite Clause
Grammars and Fuzzy Set Theory, for generation of provably correct
programs that conformed to requirement specifications.

ONLINE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, INC.
November 1977 to August 1984
Created two COBOL compilers and one operating system for TMS9900 and
MC680X0 microprocessors using Assembler and C++. Designed and
implemented bit slice processor which directly executed R/M COBOL
using AMD's 29203 family using 68000 processor to assemble and load
dual-port static RAM which was used for micro code debugging platform.
