Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm seriously considering the ideas that came up on this list and how
I can contribute. Probably I will be interested in doing some funded
work in this direction. You'll probably hear from me toward the end of
summer; I'm teaching an intensive (accredited) intro to Computers with
Python for the next seven weeks. That will be my contribution to
promoting Python for the time being!

Anyway, let's try to keep the discussion going.
