Please help verify PyCON 2004 was the most attended Python gathering ever

Hello,
I cross-posted because this is news worthy.

I need verification to validate the final claim that PyCON 2004 was the
largest attended Python event ever with approximately 370 attendees.  We had
nearly 370 paid registrants, but not all showed.  But free press passes and
others still made attendance about 370.

This is news worthy, because it can show that...
- Python as a language is gaining momentum
- that the PSF is positively affecting Python's advancement
- PyCON is becoming a very popular event (50% increase from last year) and
worth more press coverage in 2005
- the Python community is growing and very active
- etc

Can anyone dispute this claim?
