Indeed I have what I need for now. Given the lack of other comments, it seems there is no overwhelming interest. :-) Too bad -- I thought being able to set local defaults would be generally useful... Feel free to assemble a lobby group on your own time, but it'll have to be pretty convincing to get a change like this into Optik. Looks to me like you're getting what you need by subclassing, so that's good enough for me.
