Sorry not to respond earlier, but this is the first time I've seen
this thread.  For some reason (probably excessive bounces), I was
unsubscribed from optik-users back in August.  I'm reading through
the back-log.

I just checked optik-checkins, and only I am subscribed there.  Greg,
you may have been unsubscribed; you may want to add yourself back.

Correct, option groups are for documentation purposes only.  Rather
than a CVS-like subcommand structure, Docutils has several tiny
front-ends that assemble applications from parts.  The applications
construct their option parsers from option group data stored in each
part.
