python 2.3 just around the corner

hmm...

with python 2.3 not that far off, i was wondering if theres been any 
progress on the problems i pointed out earlier?  time is starting to run 
out and i really think these issues should be solved before 2.3 (backwards 
compatability etc).  have you come up with anything or should i pursue to 
get my patch into 2.3?
