extracting option groups

Is there a way to extract from a Values object
options that come from a particular OptionGroup?
I would like to be able to write something like

    (options, argv) = opt.parse_args()
    myfun(arg1, arg2, **vars(group.extract(opt))

where group is an OptionGroup  that was used to add to the parser
all the options appropriate for myfun,
and group.extract is the hypothetical method I am suggesting.
Is there already some (other) way to do this?
If not, what would be needed to add something like it?
