Well, I'm still busy.  Keep in mind that (like lots of people) I work on
Optik -- and Python -- in my spare time, for free.  I haven't had a lot
of spare time this winter.

It's not dead, it's stable.  It works for me and for many other people.
I'm willing to listen to other people's ideas, but I don't have much
inclination to code features that I'll never use.

That said, the list of problems you pointed out on python-dev are still
problems, and I still want to address them.  Unfortunately, first I have
to get the Optik test suite working again -- it was converted to PyUnit,
cleaned up, and enhanced a bit... which of course revealed some subtle,
long-hidden bugs that require my attention.  And that's where things
have stood since some time in January.  Sigh.
