Perl 6 Regular Expressions

There's been very little traffic on this list since it started. I'm not sure
if this is appropriate, but Larry Wall has just released Apocalypse 5, a
discussion of how he intends to redesign regular expressions (or more
generally, pattern matching, as he says) for Perl 6.

It may be of interest, to see how other languages are going - in particular,
he has some fairly interesting comments on how regular expressions are in
general not always a particularly good way of solving the problems they are
applied to...

I've only read part of the article so far, and it seems a little light on
specifics, and fairly rambling and vague. Nevertheless, I get the impression
that the ideas may well be worth trying to understand.
