Unable to create subclasses of QTextCodec

Hello, I just stumbled upon this question on StackOverflow: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60886700/pyqt5-subclassing-qtextcodec Apparently, it's not possible to subclass nor create a new instance of QTextCodec on PyQt. Is this a bug or due to the particular way QTextCodecs are dealt with?
