Because something is going wrong with your call to os.popen. It's not a Pyro error, it
is a shell error.

Does the exact same call to os.popen work without Pyro?

If it worked previously, what version of Pyro did you use then? Does it start working
again when you downgrade back to that older version?

Also, don't use os.popen. Use the subprocess module instead, because os.popen is obsolete.
