Thanks to everyone for their comments. An additional parameter in the existing Akima class seems the way to go, thanks Joe for the suggestion. Sure literature background is a bit limited, to say the least, but the link Robert provided covers the Mathworks algorithm in good detail. How should one go about implementing the feature?
