Maybe you are reacting too fast. Your first problem is that you don't like to configure the keyboard shortcuts. Why you don't configure them? SPE's keyboard shortcuts are completely customizable. At the moment it can't yet be done through a nice dialog box (on my todo list, you're always invited to help), but it is possible through a simple python dictionary. The manual says at 3.8 Customize: -- Keyboard shortcuts If you want to change the default keyboard shortcuts, open a shortcut file (*.py) _spe/shortcuts/shortcuts.py and adapt it to your own taste. Save it with another name and fill in the name in preferences dialog box (General>Keyboard shortcuts), of course without the '.py' extension. Well, luckily we have the same background. I also didn't like PythonWin for that. However I was getting tired of getting emails all the time of people who were trying to run wxPython applications or infinite loops inside SPE complaining that SPE was blocking. I tried to explain again and again that these programs should be run externally and had never the intention to change the run system. But too much is too much. So I had to reconsider, as most of SPE users had a different vision on running files. The new version of SPE now makes a distinction between 'execute in shell' and 'run'. What you want to do is execute your code in the shell. There are two options: - if text is selected, only selected text will be executed - nothing is selected, the whole file will be executed -> this is the old run behaviour. Do it at your own risk and don't complain if you start an infinitive loop. You might not like the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+E, but again you can modify it to F9. I can add a toolbar button, if that would help. Anyone who donates or contributes to SPE can get the manual as a pdf on the condition of not redistributing it. You get SPE for free, so I think it's only fair to ask for a donation if you want the manual. As the author of Movable Python you contribute to SPE, so you can get the manual if you don't redistribute it (eg bundling it with Movable Python). You would even make me more happy if you would comment it and review it for my not native english. Thanks! One last remark: at the moment there is a bug in the debugger, which makes it fail to catch unhandled exceptions for Python 2.4.2. It works fine for Python 2.4.1.
