Would you mind adding the debian dir to your svn repo?  I am not sure what the 
typical way of doing this is. guessing a new repo is setup for each distro's 
build scrips.

If you do, I'll be happy to both test the .deb build process and install it on 
my main box as you commit changes.  And I will find out what the recommended way 
  is.  my main goal is to have some commands on the same page that lists

svn checkout svn://svn.berlios.de/python/spe/trunk/

(which I can never find)

so that I can quickly build a .deb on a fresh box. (and therefor anyone can do 
it too, which should help promote SPE)
