I added a build script for SPE to the queue for new ebuilds for the Gentoo 
linux distribution:

   http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50338

Hopefully in a few days it will get added to the distribution. The command 
"emerge app-editors/spe" will install it and all of its dependencies.
