Install problems om Mandreake 10.0

I am attempring to install SPE, but run into problems.

This is the result I get:

[[email protected] SPE-0.5.1.a-wx2.4.2.4.-bl2.31]# python setup.py

Requirements:
         Blender  2.31 (optional for spe)
         wxPython 2.4.2.4.      (not for blenpy)
running install
error: invalid Python installation: unable to open 
/usr/lib/python2.3/config/Makefile (No such file or directory)


I have Python 2.3.3 (#2, Feb 17 2004, 11:45:40), and
>>> wx.VERSION_STRING
'2.4.2.4'

Does anyone recognze the problem?
