login form not displaying

Hi again,
Sorry to keep bothering you all with my queries but I'm hoping someone 
will be able to clarify.
I am trying to create my own login page however I am having trouble 
getting the basic form to be displayed. I am using a copy of the 
login-required.spy script in /var/firstproject/www/ and have tried to 
work out why but have not come up with a reason. I assumed that as the 
render.spi file was made global that I do not need to copy it into the 
directory above, however I have copied it into this directory anyway but 
the form is still not displayed. Is there something else that I need to 
configure/create before I can get the global tags working?
