I suggest the following:

restore spyce/spyceconf.py to its out-of-the-box state, if necessary
(you should not modify the spyceconf.py that comes with the Spyce
distribution)

create a new project using spyceProject.py.

create a .spy page using the login tag.

run this with spyceCmd.py --conf yourprojectdir/config.py

if this works, move your configuration customizations into the new
project's config.py one at a time until it breaks, which will tell us
exactly which change caused the problem.
