sybase 0.36 and Redhat 9

when I attempt to 'import Sybase' I am getting,

ImportError: /usr/local/lib/python2.2/site-packages/sybasect.so: undefined 
symbol: cs_dt_info

I am using RPMs:

sybase-common-12.5-3
sybase-openclient-12.5-3
sybase-ase-12.5-3

any ideas?
