Here (debian linux) the test also works if I just change the setUp()
method like this:

    def setUp(self):
        super().setUp()
        self.mywidget = self.create()
        self.mywidget.wait_visibility()
        self.mywidget.update_idletasks()
        self.mywidget.focus_set()
