VPython continues to be vigorously supported, both VPython 7 for use with
installed Python (including Python 3), and GlowScript VPython that compiles
and executes in a browser, without installing any software.

For current installers, at vpython.org, choose "Using VPython with
installed Python". There you will find detailed information on how to
install VPython 7. Also available on that page are details on how to use
the installed vpython module (click "Read more").

Also at vpython.org, if you click "Additional sources of information" ,
under "Plans for the future" you can read a document on why it was
necessary to abandon Classic VPython in Jan. 2016.

As for the WORST plan ever, 1) use with installed Python is still
supported, and 2) the browser version has been an enormous success for the
many tens of thousands of high school and college students who use VPython
in classes and who in the past, due to lack of prior programming
experience, had so many difficulties with installing Python, installing
VPython, and, on a Mac, installing an update to Tcl that they saw VPython
as a menacing barrier. These students can then graduate to VPython 7, with
its access to the world of Python modules, in later, more advanced courses.
The VPython syntax is the same in both versions.
