rc.local and Webware

I am having trouble launching AppServer at boot on a CentOS  box. I  
can invoke it from the terminal without a hitch.

I amended rc.local to include "/usr/local/MyApp/AppServer start &"  
and rebooted. Nothing. This worked on the old RedHat box.

All suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated.
