draw bug of the wxGlade interface on Windows

I installed wxGlade 0.6.8 on my Windows Vista (64bit) and the
properties window interface of the program is unusable, in that all
user fillable text boxes there are either transparent or filled by some
graphic garbage.

It looks like a directdraw bug or something related to the video card
driver (chipset is ATI Mobility Radeon X1600), however, I am using this
system for long time for now and this is the only encountered
application that behaves that way. Updating drivers is not possible, as
this is a laptop with "original" HP drivers on it (and ATI/AMD does not
provide generic drivers for mobile series).

As far as I can tell only the properties window is affected, either tab.
I usually keep the classic style skin interface, but changing to Aero or
Basic does not change anything.

In this mode is simply unusable. Perhaps I can build a Linux system on
a spare desktop computer here around, but I need to work on the project
while on the go, so I need to run it on the mobile system with Windows.

Any idea on this ?
