Re: Sizer in top level frame is just a thin red line

I'm just a user, but have you tried placing controls in the hatched
area? What you describe seems like the correct behaviour for the program.

Once you make your frame, you should click on a new control item (eg a
button control), then click again in the hatched area to create a
control. If you want the space to be occupied with blank area, use a
wxPanel (third button from the top on my install) to do this.

You can nest sizers inside the hatched area in order to place controls
inside more sizers, to create hierarchical layouts.
