OK, thank you, it's a pity this isn't pointed out in the tutorials.
It's what caused a lot of my initial confusion.

I'm slowly getting to understand how to do things in wxGlade! :-)

Do you actually have to put a frame in the first sizer?  I.e. can't
you just put a second sizer in the first sizer and use that as the
'root' of everything?
