Automatic ID generation no longer working?

In my app menus I often use wxID_FOO=? to automatically generate new Ids.

However, with the latest hg version this doesn't seem to work anymore, at
least not with Perl code.

wxID_FOO=? is parsed correctly, wxID_FOO is inserted into the code, but
there is no 

  use constant wxID_FOO => Wx::NewId();

generated.
