as of now, there are no such plans.
The problem is not so much a technical one. It's more related to 
resources and ideas.
I don't have a good idea yet how to visualize it and make it 
understandable to the user. The other sizers are much simpler from this 
point of view.

Did you try the current wxGlade version from the repository?
In contrast to previous versions, it will visualize also empty slots of 
a sizer in the Tree view. For GridBag this is not so simple.
The visualization in the Design window is probably more straightforward, 
but editing requires some kind of grid editor, which is not yet 
available in wxGlade.
Before implementing such features I would like to clean up a lot of 
internal things to make things more maintainable and easier to modify.
My motivation to work on wxGlade is to have a viable GUI editor. 
GridBagSizers are not an essential feature for most applications.
Contributions are very welcome, but I can understand if you find the 
current source code too complicated to contribute. I have spent a lot of 
time to simplify the code around Property handling, but there are many 
other things to be simplified. This will keep me busy for quite some 
time. I don't think that I will have a look at things like GridBag 
before end of the year. Even then, I might just point you into the 
direction instead of implementing it myself.
