Default encoding for new applications

Hi!

When a new application is created with wxGlade, the encoding usually
will be determined as

     encoding = locale.getdefaultlocale()[1]

For me, on Windows 7, this would be 'cp1252'.

I don't think that I want to have any 'cp..' encoding. My prefered
options would be latin-1 or utf-8.

What is your opinion or experience?
Would it make sense to override 'cp...' with 'utf-8' or have a hard default?

Regards,

Dietmar
