You can directly edit the name in the Tree window. Just press F2 or 
click into the label.
That's usually the fastest way to give a project some structure.

You can also edit labels and titles there as long as they are short 
enough (inside quotes or brackets).

I will have a look why the common tab is not showing. I think that's a bug.
