Entering a name into the text box is the easiest way.

E.g. for a file:

     my_app.py
     ../my_app.py

E.g. for a directory:

    ../my_app

On Windows, the easiest way is to copy the path from an open Explorer 
window. That's way faster than any file or dir pickers.

I came from Risc OS where you would just drag an icon into the folder 
window...
