To be fair, wxPython is, be default, using the  compiler that python.org
uses -- and they, in turn are essentially using the "system " compiler on
Windows.

You can't use Windows and expe3ct to be cmopoletley free of MS, and n this
case, MS does provide a free of charge compiler, so you really are OK -- if
you do'nt want to register with them, register under a false name and
temporary email address -- my guess is they only do it so they can spam you.

And all that work just to check if a bug I found depends on the used

It's really not that unusual for Windows software, even open source, to be
built with the MS compilers out of the box.

Clearly ,if you just want to do a quick bug check, you don't want to do too
much, but you could  figure out how to build it with GCC on Windows -- I'm
sure it can be done. I'm also sure it will be a lot of work!
