When you find such a person with the skills, time and interest necessary to move the project forward substantively, then we'll have something to talk about. I'm pretty sure Robin and the rest of us will be more than happy to welcome this person into the wxPython community.

Also, when you've discovered a way to get someone paid a part-time or full-time salary to work on wxPython, I bet several people would be keen to know about that as well.

What you don't seem to realize is that an open source project's popularity and growth depends on a lot of factors, many of which are completely out of the hands of the project's maintainers. For example, I doubt the rise of mobile devices and the rush to use JavaScript for everything are helping wxPython to become more popular, nor is the growing use of Python as a tool for making server-side apps with tools like Django.

The bottom line is, if every developer and their cousin wanted to build desktop GUI apps in Python, we most likely would not be having this problem. Have you considered that the problem is simply that there isn't a growing demand for cross-platform GUI development in Python, or at least a demand to make it even better than it is right now? And that without such demand, it is unlikely the project can find active contributors or funding opportunities?
