It is designed to used with the EEG-DIGITAL-ASM board. The digital board contains part of the lowpass filter, and the very important electrical isolation, and a processor with suitable resolution for the job. The Arduino does not have suitable resolution, being 8bit. This has been discussed at length before and you may do well to check the mailing list archives re Arduino. Hope this helps. I am a mechanical engineering working with a group of neuroscientists to explore human-machine interactions via EEG. Our main interest is interpreting the EEG signals and applying pattern recognition algorithms to achieve multi-dimensional control over various systems. I was overjoyed to find such a wealth of knowledge available from openeeg on the hardware side, as that is not our competency. As a mechanical engineer, I would like to deal with the electronics on a "black box" level. I plan to purchase a single EEG-ANALOG-ASM and 4 x EEG-AE from Olimex for starters. If everything is working as desired, I will order additional units for more channels. I would like to record the information provided by the analog circuit with an Arduino system (likely the Mega2560). This will allow me to record up to 16 EEG channels in the future, as well as eventually allow me to conduct signal processing and output control voltages without being connected to a PC. I have read through the online literature, but still have many questions (many will likely seem trivial to non-mechanical engineers). These questions regard selection of an Arduino system, powering of the EEG-ANALOG-ASM system, and other component compatibility questions. If anybody is interested in helping answer questions of this type, please send me an e-mail, and we can setup a separate e-mail list to avoid spamming the entire openeeg list.
