Hello Wikitronic, The question "What information can I gather from a simple eeg device" is a complicated one! Answers range from "not much", to "read the mind of your pet dog" (not kidding). There are firm opinions everywhere in between, with varying degrees of reliability. Probably the first question is: what information are you interested in? Asking whether you can gather information X with system Y will provide a good context for knowledgeable people to give their opinions. Regarding electrode placement, it depends on the answer to the first question. Electrode placement might be different if you're interested in neurofeedback vs. BCI vs. sleep tracking, for example. Before you build your electrodes into a headband, you might want to try experimenting with different locations. I'm not sure what stage of your development you're at, but if you are doing preliminary testing of your electrodes or other parts of the setup you may want to start with measuring EKG, if you haven't done so already. It's a much stronger signal than EEG, and could make troubleshooting easier. Also, you'd be welcome to start a thread on NeuroBB (http://neurobb.com) about your project. I think NeuroBB members would be interested in following your progress, and could help out with EEG-related questions.
