I'm happy to see some activity here!
I may have posted before that my interest is the Phi energy distributions
that Dan Winter (brain tuner) measured at peak consciousness (bliss)
states. Dan says he is happy to help make it happen!
I have invested in some hardware (2 channel Olimex) before but wasn't happy
about the support in the available Software frameworks (didn't get it to
work).
If the intent to build it all from scratch counts I am happy that I have
recently discovered how easy Arduino based boards are to program and
operate! I also investigated the STM32 Arm Maple boards, but considering
that the most effort of the measuring hardware currently is just to measure
and transfer the (relatively low sample rate) data to the PC even the Nano
should be plenty?
What makes me more curious is how to be as little as possible electrically
invasive! I just ordered some DC-DC converters and I already have gotten
optocuplers so I imagine to use one Nano for the USB interface and one
electrically isolated one for the actual measurements!
So far it appears to me that all the component would still cost less than
20€ and Nanos for example I think have at least 8 channels of 12 Bit ADC?
Don't know yet how to run a Serial interface over optocuples but it
shouldn't be so difficult

Anyhow thanks everybody for reviving the discussion here, may it lead to
something interesting!
