configure:4113: error: The FFTW libraries could not be found.  Make sure 
FFTW is installed, and that LDFLAGS and CPPFLAGS are set appropriately if 
necessary.

The error is just what it says: you need to install FFTW.  Note that FFTW 
2.x is required, and FFTW 3.x will not work with MPB.
