Hi Steven.

The configuration arguments I'm using are:

./configure --prefix=/home/bta/mpb --with-mpi --with-lapack=/opt/ 
intel/cmkl/8.0/lib/em64t --with-blas=/usr/lib64


So, the answer to your questions....
a)  /usr/lib64/libblas.a
b) --with-blas=/usr/lib64

I compiled the BLAS library with the same compiler (ifort) which I  
configured MPB with.
