Question 3D structure

Hi MPB people:

I am a MPB user and i have a question about a PhC i am simulating. I am 
trying to simulate a woodpile 3D photonic crystal as the one defined in 
the book "Photonic Crystals Modeling the Flow of Light" (Pg. 120). I 
understand that this structure has a "fcc" array, but i can not picture 
how the unit cell would look like. I know that i can create rectangular 
dielectric rods but i don't know where i should build them. Do i need a 
supercell? can you please give me some advice?. I will appreciate.
