[ The Types Forum, http://lists.seas.upenn.edu/mailman/listinfo/types-list ] Another typed approach to big data is to use the generic queries of pattern calculus http://www.springer.com/computer/theoretical+computer+science/book/978-3-540-89184-0 and bondi http://bondi.it.uts.edu.au/ Generic queries can be applied to data structures of arbitrary type, without adding any apparatus for collections or monads, etc. In principle, this allows a single, strongly-typed query to be executed across a wide variety of data bases, with varying schema.
