Summary: An easy way to install scigraphica 0.8 under redhat 9 or FC3
Initial Comment:
Before installing, some softwares are needed:
1) Python1.5 and Python2.1 are temporariy needed.
2) others are:
gtk+extra-0.99.17-1rh7_2.i386.rpm,
gtk+extra-devel-0.99.17-1rh7_2.i386.rpm
pygtk-0.6.9-3.i386.rpm, pygtk-0.6.11.tar.gz,
python-numeric-17.3.0-3.i386.rpm,
python-numeric-devel-17.3.0-3.i386.rpm
ScientificPython-2.2-2.i386.rpm
scigraphica-0.8.0-1rh7_2.i386.rpm
Step of installation:
login as root
1) compiling and installing Python 2.1
./configure --prefix=/usr/local make && make install
2) rpm install gtk+extra-0.99.17-1rh7_2.i386.rpm and
gtk+extra-devel-0.99.17-1rh7_2.i386.rpm
3) rpm install pygtk-0.6.9-3.i386.rpm
You should also unpack and install pygtk-0.6.11.tar.gz
./configure --prefix=/usr/local make && make install
After that you will find a new dir in /usr/local/lib
named as 'python2.3/site-packages'
4) rpm install python-numeric-17.3.0-3.i386.rpm,
python-numeric-devel-17.3.0-3.i386.rpm and
ScientificPython-2.2-2.i386.rpm
A new dir named as 'python1.5' will be found under /usr/lib
cp everything from /usr/local/lib/python2.1 to
/usr/lib/python1.5
cp everthing from
/usr/local/lib/python2.3/site-packages to
/usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages
5) compiling and installing Python1.5
/configure --prefix=/usr make && make install
6) rpm install scigraphica-0.8.0-1rh7_2.i386.rpm
7) cd /usr/bin
cp python2.3 python
8) If you suceed in finishing above steps, you can use
scigraphica.
