Sorry, my fault.

Numarray is correctly detected (at least for me). The error comes from 
something else. You will notice it if you type "scigraphica --version". It 
will give you not the correct valuses for gtk/gtkextra/xml. I found the 
appropiate sourcecode and will provide a patch for configure.in as soon as I 
understood how to get program versions out of pkg-config...
